Create a password hash for Laravel
Laravel can use bcrypt to store password hashes. This page calls PHP's password_hash() with bcrypt and a cost of 12, producing a $2y$ hash suitable for a Laravel application configured to use the bcrypt hashing driver. Each run uses a new random salt, so the same password normally produces a different hash.
Hashing is not encryption
A bcrypt hash cannot be decrypted to recover the original password. When a user signs in, the application checks the submitted password against the stored hash. In Laravel, use Hash::check() for that comparison. Never compare two freshly generated hashes as strings; their random salts make them different.
Use a safe workflow
This tool sends the entered password to your PHP server. For a live account, generate and store hashes inside your application instead of typing a real password into a public utility page. Bcrypt uses only the first 72 bytes of input, so this page rejects longer values rather than silently ignoring the remainder. Keep the site on HTTPS and restrict access if you use it for administrative work.
