Move text through systems that expect Base64
Base64 represents bytes using a limited set of printable characters. It appears in data URLs, API payloads, and some email formats. Paste ordinary text and choose Encode, or paste a Base64 string and choose Decode. The tool handles Unicode text by converting it to and from UTF-8 bytes.
Encoding is not encryption
Anyone with the encoded text can decode it. Base64 is a transport format, not a way to protect passwords, personal information, or API keys. If the decoded bytes are not valid UTF-8 text, this tool reports an error instead of showing misleading characters.
Common checks
Base64 strings often end with one or two equals signs used as padding. Whitespace from copied lines is ignored during decoding. If a result is rejected, check for missing characters or whether the source uses URL-safe Base64, which substitutes different symbols. Use a suitable decoder for binary files; this page is intended for text.
